TALE AS OLD AS TIME....
This month, to celebrate the re-release of Walt Disney's Beauty and the Beast, we decided we couldn't pass up the opportunity to spend a whole month thinking about Disney — the films, the songs, the animation, the racism, the theme parks. Yes, Disney Studios are responsible for pioneering animation, for winning countless Oscars, for some of the most blatant racial stereotypes in kids' films, for the most-loved family holiday destinations, and for some truly great movies. Everyone has a favourite, everyone grew up watching them, and they remain timeless — their first feature film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, is as entertaining today as it was over seventy years ago. So, in honour of Walt and the crew, we pick our favourite Disney sidekicks, and we discuss the history of the infamous Disneyland resorts. The studios have been hit by their fair share of scandals over the years, so we look at how some of the recent Disney child stars have coped in the public eye, and we examine some of the finest moments of artistry in Disney animation. Finally, just to show that some other people have attempted animation in film over the years as well, we select the most notable non-Disney animated feature films. As always, there might be some reviews throughout the month, and don't forget to find us on Facebook. See you next month!
